We are the tinkerers of USC.

Makers was started in the Fall of 2016 by three engineering students at the University of Southern California as an effort to promote more innovation and interest in electronics on campus. The mission of Makers is to facilitate the exploration of concepts in electronics design and stimulate interest in the field of electronics. The organization hopes to serve as a resource for its community by offering its assistance with electronics-related projects and hosting workshops that are open to the general public. Starting in the Fall of 2017, we will be making our workshop series open to the public to further our mission of generating interest in electronics.

Since its inception, Makers has expanded its membership to 25+ students by emphasizing community and growth through learning. Our members have the opportunity to join a team (or start their own) and devise a project that they will work on until completion. Teams are given a certain amount of funding each semester to spend on their project. We also have semesterly retreats and social activities for our members to bond and escape their work because we believe it is crucial for our members to be able to rely on each other, academically or otherwise, and build long term friendships within our organization. Benefits of membership also include higher changes for job opportunities, industry talks from tech-companies, and an excellent community that will support you in all your endeavors.
